Letter to friends

When religions are NOT a cause of violence...

Letter to friends - Qiqajon di Bose n. 80 - Transfiguration 2026

Dear friends,
For far too long now we have been hearing ‘talk of wars and rumours of wars’ (cf. Mt 24:6) and we find it increasingly difficult ‘not to be troubled’, resigning ourselves to the fact that this is how things have always been since the world began. There is far too much waste of life and an even greater abundance of contempt for life, of offences against human dignity, and of indifference towards the common good. There are now far too many innocent victims, guilty only of belonging to a particular people or ethnic group, of living in a disputed land, or of remaining faithful to their own identity and way of life. Far too many people are forced to migrate in search of land, a home, work and the dignity that comes with them. The squalid and inhumane prisons are far too overcrowded. Too many hospitals are prevented from fulfilling their role of caring for bodies and minds. Too many aspirations for freedom are stifled in bloodshed. Too many girls and boys are deprived of a future, if not of parts of their own bodies, of family members, or of their very lives.

Easter of the Resurrection
Homily by Fr. Sabino Chialà, Prior of Bose
Matthew 28,1–10

Brothers and sisters,
Christ is risen! He is truly risen!
We have echoed this proclamation, which surprises us every time. Perhaps, as we pronounce these words, we feel somewhat inadequate, as if repeating words too great for us. And yet this is our faith: the proclamation of Christ’s Passover, which we relive not as a simple commemoration of a past event, but as a reality that becomes true here, for us, in this night and in this world of ours.

The Lord of Life is more powerful than death

21 aprile 2025

While the words of the angels to the women who had come to the sepulcher, “Why are you seeking among the dead him who is alive?”, we have had news of the passing away of Pope Francis from this world to the Father. He had begun his Petrine ministry presenting himself as Bishop of Rome and as Bishop of Rome he concluded it, with the benediction “urbi et orbi”, to the city and to the world.
