Life is something splendid and great

Letter to young people
Late in the evening, when the day has sunk behind us, I often happen to walk along the razor wire, and from my heart a voice always rises saying

"Late in the evening,

When the day has sunk behind us,
I often happen to walk along the razor wire
And from my heart a voice always rises
saying: Life is something splendid and great.
To each new crime and horror
We should oppose
A new little piece of love and goodness
That we will have achieved in ourselves.
We may suffer
But we must not give in."
