✜ His Holiness Theodoros II, Patriarch of Alexandria

His Holiness Theodoros II is the Greek-Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria since 2004. He was born on the Greek island of Crete in 1954. He received a degree from the Theological Faculty of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. From 1975 to 1985 he served as archdeacon and chancellor of the Metropolis of Lambis and Sfakion in Crete. From 1985 to 1990 he served as Patriarchal Exarch in Russia, based in the Ukrainian city of Odessa, where he studied history of art, literature, and philosophy. In 1990 he was ordained bishop of Kyrene and was appointed representative of Patriarch Parthenios in Athens. In 1997 he was appointed Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria; after ten months he was elected metropolitan of Cameroon. In 2002 he was transferred to the Metropolis of Zimbabwe. In both these sees he established missionary centres, hellenic cultural centres, as well as hospitals, technical schools, and nursery schools.
